An exciting opportunity has arisen in a high profile Engineering and Architectural Consultancy firm in the Middle East who are looking for a strong Specification Writer to represent the company within their multidisciplinary team.  The firm covers markets such as architectural, structural, master planning, MEP, cost engineering and construction management and they provide a high level of technical and design solutions to organisations all over the Middle East. The Consultancy has been established for many years and their goal is to continue to offer a high quality design and build solutions to their clients.  They are considered one of the best in their class within architecture and working for this company will offer an excellent opportunity for a strong Specification Writer/Leader who wants to be challenged and utilise their creative and technical talents.

Responsibilities:

• As a Specifications Writer, you are responsible for developing detailed project specifications and assist project team in coordinating contract documents.
• Strong knowledge of architectural design, engineering coordination, design trends, products, construction methodology, building systems, material application, and manufacturer-supplier details.
• Strong knowledge of construction procedures and schedules.
• Co-ordination of all specifications across all dsiciplines.
• Strong knowledge of building codes and ability to research and apply/incorporate into technical documents.
• Edit drawings or make notes on CAD data files to correct or clarify specified materials in coordination with designs and details.
• Proficiency in MS Office, including Word, Excel and Outlook.
• Ability to produce a well-coordinated, detail-oriented, fully integrated Project Manual.
• Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously and produce results within deadline.
• Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
• Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

Requirements:

• Bachelor’s degree in architecture or engineering or equivalent is required.
• 10 – 15 years of recent design and construction specification experience required.
• Previous experience with large-scale, technically complex projects and multiple clients preferred.
• Construction Specifications Institute Certification preferred but not essential.
• Fluent English and Arabic is essential.
